Pledges

Pledges are amounts of money that people pledge to donate to particular funds within a specified time period. Pledges are organized according to Pledge Drives. The amount, giving unit and fund are contained in the Pledge itself while the time period is defined in the Pledge Drive.

PeoplePower® uses the concept of Giving Units for pledges. A Giving Unit is one or more people who make a pledge as one; typically, this is a husband and wife. In this way, both people get credit for the pledge instead of having to choose one or the other.

Pledge drives can have overlapping time periods. In this case, PeoplePower® will not let a Giving Unit pledge the same fund in overlapping time periods.

PeoplePower® automatically updates the amounts received against pledges whenever donations to the pledged funds are given within the time period of the pledge. In this way, the person entering the donation never has to worry about attributing the donation to a specific pledge. Even if the pledge is entered after the donation, PeoplePower® will update it with the total given so far.

The tabs across the top of the screen are:

• Pledge Drive - this tab contains the information about the Pledge Drive, e.g., as name and time period.
• Pledges - this tab is where you enter the individual pledges for the Pledge Drive.
